Howseen Academy › Module 4: Use Howseen step by step
Howseen Academy · Lesson 4.7
Content Plan and Content Refresh
Write the page AI is missing, or improve the page you already have. Both live under Content Plan, and both follow the rules of lesson 3.2.
By the end of this lesson, you can
- Generate an article for a question where a competitor wins
- Review, edit and publish it from the calendar
- Refresh an existing page instead of writing a new one
Content Plan
What is the Content Plan?
A monthly calendar of articles, one per buyer question you should win. It shows drafts ready, articles planned this month and articles published.
Open Content Plan in the left menu. The top shows your counts, then the generator, then the Publishing calendar with a Calendar and a List view. Highlighted questions are live gaps: AI cites a competitor there, not you. Questions with an AI + Google or Google demand badge are also searched on Google.
Articles per 30 days: 4 on Starter, 15 per brand on Pro, 30 for the account on Business.
Step by step
How do you generate an article?
Pick a buyer question to win, add instructions if you want, and click Generate content. The draft arrives with key takeaways, a FAQ and an AI citation score.
- In the generator, under A buyer prompt to win:, click a question. Highlighted ones are your live gaps.
- No good question? Click Mine real questions to pull real questions from public discussions, or type a subject in Your topic and click Find angles.
- Optional: write Special instructions, for example a point to stress or a source to use.
- Click Generate content. The article is written in a few seconds and lands on the calendar as a draft.
Each article targets one buyer question and covers its sub-questions under its own headings, because engines split one question into several searches:
“Under the hood, AI Mode uses our query fan-out technique, breaking down your question into subtopics and issuing a multitude of queries simultaneously on your behalf.”
Before publishing
How do you review and edit a draft?
Read it as a buyer would. Check every fact, add what only you know, and use the AI citation score to see what to improve. Then publish or schedule it.
- Open the draft. Look at the AI citation score, with the points verified and the points to improve.
- Click Edit to change any text. Changes save on their own.
- Add images with Illustrate this article (3 images), your own photo, or a video link.
- Check prices, product names and claims. Add a real example or a customer quote you are allowed to use.
- Click Publish to your platform, or Schedule (lesson 4.4).
“Specifically, our top-performing methods, Cite Sources, Quotation Addition, and Statistics Addition, achieved a relative improvement of 30-40% on the Position-Adjusted Word Count metric and 15-30% on the Subjective Impression metric.”
Content Refresh
What is Content Refresh, and when should you use it?
Content Refresh rewrites a page you already have so AI can find and quote it, without creating a new address. Use it when a page exists but is not cited.
- Under Content Plan in the left menu, open Content Refresh.
- In Refresh an existing page, paste the page address, or pick one in Your pages before Howseen and click Refresh.
- Optional: type the buyer question you want this page to win. Otherwise Howseen infers it from the page.
- Read the result: Retrievability for the query, the GEO score (refreshed), the new length and What we improved.
- Click Save as draft in Content Plan, or Copy refreshed markdown to paste it yourself.
- Publish the new version in place of the old page, at the same address. The draft reminds you which page it replaces.
Tip. Refreshing a page that already gets traffic is often faster than writing a new one: it keeps its address, its links and its history. A refresh counts in your monthly article allowance.
Your voice
How do you make articles sound like you?
In Settings, Generation, set the article style, language, internal links and global instructions once. Every new article follows them.
- Article style: Informative, Conversational, Technical or Storytelling.
- Article language: also the language of your tracking.
- Global article instructions: your brand voice, words to avoid, things to always mention.
- Compare competitors: objectively compare the main alternatives, for richer and more citable content.
- Article author (blog signature): a real name and bio on every article.
A named author and honest comparisons are trust signals people and Google look for (Google Search Central, Creating helpful, reliable, people-first content). The writing rules behind every draft are in lesson 3.2, and the feature page is content autopilot.
Questions, answered
How many articles can I generate?+
4 per 30 days on Starter, 15 per brand on Pro, and 30 for the account on Business. A Content Refresh counts as one article.
Should I publish articles without reading them?+
We advise reading the first ones, checking every fact and adding what only you know. Then you can turn on autopilot if you are happy with the quality.
What is the AI citation score?+
A check of the draft against the points that make a page easy for AI to quote: direct answers, structure, facts, FAQ. It shows what is verified and what to improve.
Content Refresh or a new article?+
Refresh when a page on the topic already exists, so you keep its address and history. Write a new article when no page answers the question.
Where do I find the pages I had before Howseen?+
In Content Refresh, in the list Your pages before Howseen. Howseen reads them once when you set up your brand.
