Howseen Academy › Module 4: Use Howseen step by step
Howseen Academy · Lesson 4.4
Connect your site and publish
Connect your website once, and every article Howseen writes can go live on your own domain in one click, on a schedule, or on autopilot.
By the end of this lesson, you can
- Connect your CMS with the right credentials
- Publish, schedule or mark an article as published
- Turn autopilot on or off
Where
Where do you connect your site?
In Settings, Integrations, in the Publish anywhere card. Pick your platform and click Connect. Each platform asks only for what it needs.
- Open Settings → Integrations.
- In Publish anywhere, find your platform: Next.js, WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, Webflow, Framer, Wix, BigCommerce, GoHighLevel, Duda, Snapps, API or Webhook.
- Click Connect on its card and follow the platform steps below.
- When it works, the card shows Connected.
Per platform
What does each platform ask for?
WordPress needs an application password, Shopify one click, Ghost an Admin API key. Webflow, Wix, Framer and similar need nothing: you paste a ready article.
| Platform | What you enter | Where you find it |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | Site URL, WordPress username, Application password | WP Admin, Users, Profile, Application Passwords |
| Shopify | Your store address, then Connect with Shopify | Approve the access on Shopify's own screen |
| Ghost | Admin API URL and Admin API key | Ghost Admin, Settings, Integrations, Add custom integration |
| BigCommerce | Store hash and API access token | Settings, API accounts, Create account (Content scope) |
| Webflow, Framer, Wix, GoHighLevel, Duda, Snapps | Nothing | Each publish gives a paste-ready article and the exact steps |
| Next.js or API | Click Generate key | You get a content feed URL to fetch from your site |
| Webhook | Your endpoint URL | Save the signing secret: it is shown once |
Official docs: WordPress Core, Application Passwords integration guide, Shopify Admin API, Article resource, Ghost Admin API documentation. Howseen tests the credentials when you click Save & connect, so a wrong password shows up right away, not at the first publish. Each platform has its own page in integrations.
Tip. No website? The card Don't see your platform? Host with us. gives you a blog hosted by Howseen. Click Set up and it is live.
Publishing
How do you publish an article?
Open the article in the Content Plan and click Publish to, followed by your platform. You can also schedule it, or mark it as published if you posted it by hand.
- Open Content Plan and click an article on the calendar or in the list.
- Click Publish to followed by your platform name, for example Publish to WordPress.
- Or click Schedule and pick a date.
- If you published it yourself on another tool, use or mark as published manually.
- The article now shows PUBLISHED, and it appears in Content History with its indexing status.
After publishing, Howseen asks Google and Bing to index the page if you connected them (lessons 4.2 and 4.3).
“IndexNow is an easy way for websites owners to instantly inform search engines and web crawlers used for information retrieval (“search engines”) about latest content changes on their website.”
Autopilot
How does autopilot work?
Autopilot publishes your planned articles to your connected site by itself. Off, every article waits as a draft for you to review. You choose in Settings, Generation.
- Open Settings → Generation.
- Turn Autopilot on or off. When on, it publishes 1 article every 2 days to your connected CMS, as the setting describes.
- Start with autopilot off for the first few articles. Read them, adjust your settings, then turn it on.
In the same panel you set the Article style (Informative, Conversational, Technical or Storytelling), the Article language, the Internal links per article and Global article instructions: your voice, words to avoid, things to always mention.
Troubleshooting
What if publishing stops working?
A red Reconnect needed badge means the platform refused Howseen's access: a revoked token, a changed password or an uninstalled app. Reconnect to resume.
- In Settings → Integrations, look for Reconnect needed on your platform card.
- Click Disconnect, then Connect again with fresh credentials.
- Publish one article by hand to check it works.
Questions, answered
Which platforms can Howseen publish to directly?+
WordPress, Shopify, Ghost and BigCommerce publish directly. Next.js and other stacks pull articles from a content feed or receive them by webhook. Webflow, Framer, Wix, GoHighLevel, Duda and Snapps get a paste-ready article.
Do articles go live without my approval?+
Only if you turn autopilot on. With autopilot off, every article stays a draft until you publish or schedule it.
What if my Shopify store blocks app installs?+
Open the manual option under the Shopify card: you create a private app in your Shopify admin and paste its Admin API access token. The steps are shown in Howseen.
Is my password stored safely?+
Credentials are tested when you connect. For WordPress, use an application password, which you can revoke at any time without changing your main password.
Can I edit an article before it goes live?+
Yes. Open it in the Content Plan, click Edit, change the text, then publish or schedule it.
