AI visibility tracking: is AI naming you?
Your prospects ask AI which brand to choose. Howseen asks the same questions on a schedule and shows where you are named, where a competitor is named instead, and what changed.

Definition
What is AI visibility tracking?
AI visibility tracking means asking AI assistants the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and recording whether your brand is named, in which position, in what tone and from which sources.
It is the AI version of rank tracking, with one big difference: there is no list of ten links to rank in. An AI answer names a few brands, sometimes one. If you are not in that short list, the buyer never sees you. That is why the question to measure is simple: when a prospect asks AI what to choose, does it name you?
Fewer clicks now reach websites at all. When a Google AI summary appears, users click a traditional result in 8% of visits, against 15% without one, and click a link inside the summary in 1% of visits (Pew Research Center, July 2025). Gartner predicted that search engine volume would drop 25% by 2026 because of AI chatbots and virtual agents. Being named inside the answer is what is left.

What you see
The four numbers Howseen tracks for your brand
Howseen turns every AI answer into four numbers: how often you are named, your share of all brand mentions, the tone used about you, and your average position in the list.
- Brand visibility: the share of AI answers that name your brand, across your buyer questions.
- Share of voice: your mentions against every brand mentioned in the same answers, so you see who takes the space.
- Sentiment: a 0 to 100 score of how AI talks about you (positive, neutral, mixed).
- Position: where you appear in the list when you are named. #1 and #5 are not the same win.
Each number comes with its change over the period you pick, per engine or all engines together, so you see what moved and when. Every answer stays readable in full: you can open the exact text AI gave and the sources it cited. See how competitors compare on the competitors and sources page.
Why it must run on a schedule
Why one check of ChatGPT is not enough
AI answers change from one day to the next and from one engine to another, so a single manual check gives a snapshot, not a measure you can act on.
In our own data, the engines do not even read the web the same way. Across 5,331 AI answers collected between August 16 and October 4, 2026, Perplexity attached 17.4 sources to the average answer, ChatGPT 5.2 and Google AI Mode 3.7. Gemini added a source to only 60.1% of its answers (Howseen data study). Google says it plainly about its own two AI surfaces:
“AI Mode and AI Overviews may use different models and techniques, so the set of responses and links they show will vary.”
That is why Howseen runs your questions again every 3 days (daily on Business) and keeps the history. You compare dates, not impressions. The detail per engine is on the AI engines page.

How it works
How Howseen tracks your AI visibility
You add your brand and website once. Howseen picks the buyer questions, runs them on every engine of your plan, and fills a dashboard that updates by itself.
- 1. Your brand and site. Howseen reads your site, suggests the questions your buyers ask, grouped by topic, and the competitors to watch.
- 2. The runs. Each question is asked on each engine of your plan. New questions you add are launched right away, without waiting for the next run.
- 3. The dashboard. Visibility, share of voice, sentiment and position, per question, per engine, over time. A shareable report link for your team or client.
- 4. The next move. An action plan and a content plan built from the questions where you are missing. Data is also available to Claude or ChatGPT through the Howseen MCP server and API.

Questions, answered
How do I know if ChatGPT mentions my brand?+
Ask ChatGPT the questions your buyers ask, the way they ask them, and note which brands it names. To do it on a schedule and across engines, Howseen runs those questions for you and records every answer. You can try it once for free with the free trial (3 days, cancel in 1 click).
How often does Howseen check AI answers?+
Every 3 days on Starter and Pro, daily on Business. Claude, available on Business, runs every 3 days on up to 50 buyer questions. New questions you add run right away.
Which AI engines does Howseen track?+
ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on every plan; Perplexity and Google AI Mode on Pro and Business; Claude on Business.
Is AI visibility tracking the same as SEO rank tracking?+
No. Rank tracking measures your position among Google's links. AI visibility tracking measures whether an AI assistant names your brand in its answer, in what position and tone, and which sources it used. A page can rank well on Google and still be absent from AI answers.
Can I see my competitors' AI visibility?+
Yes. Every answer is analysed for every brand it names, so you see your share of voice against 3 to 5 tracked competitors, per question and per engine.
Is there a free version?+
The 3-day free trial runs your buyer questions on every engine of the plan. Plans start at €39 per month, with a 3-day free trial.
