What the Search Console integration does
Howseen reads your Search Console data with your permission to speed up indexing of new articles and to add Google opportunities to your action plan.
- Sitemap resubmission after each published article.
- URL Inspection of each new article at day 1, 3 and 7, so you know when Google has it.
- Request indexing from Howseen for a new page.
- Google opportunities in the action plan: real queries from your site where a page could rank or answer better.
Indexing matters for AI too: AI Overviews and AI Mode are built on Google Search, and Google states that to appear in them a page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet (Google Search Central, AI features and your website).
Setup
How to connect Google Search Console
Sign in with Google from Howseen settings and choose the Search Console property of your site.
Howseen uses the official Search Console API: Google Search Console API, Sitemaps: submit and Google Search Console API, URL Inspection. Sitemaps help Google discover the pages on your site (Google Search Central, Learn about sitemaps). Not connected, or no matching property? Your action plan simply has no Google actions; nothing breaks.

Bing gets the same treatment with your own key: see Bing Webmaster Tools, which supports instant pings through IndexNow.org. Research on generative engines shows the page itself then decides how often AI cites it (Aggarwal et al., GEO: Generative Engine Optimization, KDD 2024).

Can Howseen change my Search Console settings?+
No settings are changed. Howseen reads your performance data, inspects URLs, resubmits sitemaps and can request indexing for a page you publish.
Does indexing guarantee AI will cite my page?+
No. Indexing is the entry ticket: AI Overviews and AI Mode can only show pages Google has indexed. Being cited then depends on how well the page answers the question.

Can I disconnect it?+
Yes, at any time from Howseen settings, and you can also remove the access from your Google account.
