Integration · Cursor (MCP)
Your AI visibility data inside Cursor
Connect the Howseen MCP server to Cursor and work on the pages AI should cite, with your real visibility gaps next to your code.
Overview
What the Howseen MCP server does in Cursor
The Howseen MCP server lets Cursor read your AI visibility data and, when you allow it, act on it: track questions, draft and publish articles.
Ask in plain English: “Which buyer questions name my competitors and not me?”, “Which sites should I get listed on first?”, “What changed since my last scan?”. Cursor answers with the same numbers as your Howseen dashboard, for your own brands only.
“Think of MCP like a USB-C port for AI applications.”
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that Anthropic open-sourced in November 2024 (Anthropic, Introducing the Model Context Protocol (November 2024)). Cursor reads MCP servers from a simple mcp.json file.
Setup
How to connect Howseen to Cursor
Create a key in Howseen settings, paste the ready-made setup for Cursor, then ask your first question. No code to write.
- Cursor: add one entry to mcp.json. Howseen settings generate it for you with your key inside.
- Your key: create it in Howseen under Settings, API & AI assistants. It is read only unless you enable actions.
- Then ask: “Which buyer questions name my competitors and not me?” while you edit the page that should answer it.
Cursor documents MCP servers and the mcp.json format (Cursor docs, Model Context Protocol).
Reference: Cursor docs, Model Context Protocol. The server lives at https://app.howseen.ai/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP) and authenticates with your key.
Tools
26 tools, read only by default
Read tools work with any key; action tools need a key with actions enabled, and every change is previewed before you confirm it.
- See the gap: get_prompt_gaps, get_easiest_wins, get_changes, get_visibility, get_competitors, get_top_sources, search_responses.
- Close it: add_prompts, add_competitor, draft_article, run_scan, create_share_report.
- Publish: publish_article to your connected CMS, then request_indexing on Google and Bing.

Questions, answered
Can Cursor change my Howseen account?+
Only if you allow it. Keys are read only by default. With actions enabled, every change comes as a preview first and only happens after you confirm; your plan limits apply as in the app.
How do I add Howseen to Cursor?+
Copy the mcp.json entry generated in your Howseen settings into Cursor's MCP configuration, then reload Cursor.
Which plans include the MCP server?+
Pro and Business, and the 3-day trial.
Is my data shared with other users?+
No. A key only sees the brands of the account that created it, or a single brand if you choose. Howseen stores only a hash of your key.
What can I ask?+
Which buyer questions name a competitor and not you, which sites AI cites in those answers, what changed since the last scan, and to draft and publish the article that wins a question back.
