What is AI content optimization?
AI content optimization means publishing pages that answer the exact questions buyers ask AI, in a form AI can quote: a direct answer, facts, data and sources.
AI does not cite the page with the most keywords. It cites the page that answers the question clearly, early, with something to quote. Research on generative engines found that adding quotations, statistics and cited sources raises a page's visibility in AI answers, while keyword stuffing does not help (Aggarwal et al., GEO: Generative Engine Optimization, KDD 2024). Google says the same in its own words:
“Google's automated ranking systems are designed to prioritize helpful, reliable information that's created to benefit people, and not content that's created to manipulate search engine rankings.”
Our data adds a practical point: ChatGPT leans on websites (brand sites, documentation, expert pages) and never cited YouTube in 1,164 answers. To be cited by ChatGPT, publish a page on your own site that answers the exact question (study).

How the content autopilot works
Howseen builds a monthly plan from the buyer questions you track, writes one draft at a time for you to approve, and can publish straight to your site once autopilot is on.
- 1. The plan. Your tracked buyer prompts are spread across the month, starting with the questions where AI names a competitor and not you.
- 2. The draft. Each article is written for one buyer question, in a format that fits it: comparison, how-to guide or resource list. It uses your brand profile, so it says what you actually do.
- 3. Your choice. By default every article waits as a draft for your approval. Turn autopilot on and it is published on its planned date to your connected site.
- 4. Indexing. After publishing, Howseen can resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console and check the page with URL Inspection at day 1, 3 and 7, and submit it to Bing with your own Webmaster key.
Fast indexing matters because AI engines can only cite pages they know. Bing, which many AI tools rely on, supports instant pings through the IndexNow protocol (IndexNow.org).

Only if you want it to. By default every article is a draft you approve. With autopilot on and a connected CMS, articles are published on their planned date.
