Integration · Webhook
Publish to any site with a webhook
No native connector for your stack? Howseen sends each article as one signed JSON request to the URL you choose.
Overview
What the webhook integration does
Each time an article is published, Howseen sends it as a JSON POST to your URL, so any CMS, framework or automation tool can receive it.
The article answers one buyer question where AI names a competitor (see content autopilot). Your endpoint decides what to do with it: create a page, open a pull request, or pass it to an automation tool.
Why publish at all? In our study of 5,331 AI answers, ChatGPT never cited YouTube in 1,164 answers and leaned on websites: brand sites, documentation and expert pages. A clear page on your own site is what ChatGPT can quote.
Payload
What Howseen sends
One JSON body per article with title, slug, meta, author, HTML, Markdown and the publish time.
{
"title": "...",
"slug": "...",
"meta": "...",
"author": "...",
"html": "...",
"markdown": "...",
"publishedAt": "2026-10-10T09:00:00.000Z"
}- Content-Type: application/json.
- Any non-2xx answer counts as a failure and is shown in Howseen.
Security
Verify that the request comes from Howseen
Add a signing secret when you connect, and every request carries an X-Howseen-Signature header: an HMAC-SHA256 of the exact body.
Your endpoint recomputes the HMAC of the raw body with the same secret and compares it to the header value (sha256=<hex>). HMAC is a standard keyed hash (RFC 2104, HMAC: Keyed-Hashing for Message Authentication). The URL must be public (http or https); private addresses are refused.
Publishing is half the job: AI Overviews and AI Mode can only show pages Google has indexed (Google Search Central, AI features and your website), and when an AI summary appears, Google users click fewer links (Pew Research Center, July 2025). Being the page the answer quotes matters more than ranking tenth.
“Google's automated ranking systems are designed to prioritize helpful, reliable information that's created to benefit people, and not content that's created to manipulate search engine rankings.”

Questions, answered
Which tools can receive the webhook?+
Anything that accepts an HTTPS POST with a JSON body: your own API, a serverless function, or an automation tool.
Is the request signed?+
Yes, if you set a signing secret when you connect. The X-Howseen-Signature header holds sha256= followed by the HMAC-SHA256 of the raw body.
Do I get Markdown or HTML?+
Both, in the same request: use whichever your site expects.
What happens if my endpoint is down?+
The publish fails, the error is shown in Howseen, and you can retry. A rejected signature or credentials (401/403) stops automatic retries until you reconnect.
